At any given moment, the Twittersphere is awash with wisdom, idiocy, diatribes, mawkish remarks and useful and useless links that'll take you to stories and photos and nonesense and even philosophical ruminations. Indeed, words are shared about Native Americans more often than you'd think. Some folks talk ancestry or sports mascots while others post photos from a protest of late. That said, here are 12 recent tweets for your approbation or condemnation. And as always, be warned. There are some foul ones in this bunch.

2.

Exactly. Why is Rooney Mara playing Tiger Lily?

3.

Another reason why Native American/First Nation folks prefer to be referenced by their nation or tribe.

4.

Not surprising.

5.

6.

Was it Frank Waln?

7.

8.

#changethename.

9.

Math is hard.

10.

Better luck next time.

11.

What. The. Hell?

12.

This photo begs audio. Well done, protesters. Well done.

The last photo was the most enigmatic for me. HOW can African-American NFL fans NOT see our point when it comes to the Washington team? They seem to have forgotten that "niggers" was once also traditional AND that they weren't expected to take care of all their problems (unemployment, poverty, substance abuse, etc.) BEFORE protesting the slur.

. . . as for Rooney Mara playing Tiger Lily in Peter Pan, who cares? Tiger Lily isn't a real NDN anyway, why not choose a substitute to play the substitute?
