Dakota 38 Memorial Ride Underway

The 330-mile memorial ride began at the Lower Brule Reservation on December 10. The riders will travel through ice and snow right through Christmas to reach Mankato, Minnesota by December 26. It was there where 38 Dakota men were hung after the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862.

To check on the riders, see a map of where they are and the progress they have made, click here. As of December 9, they had completed 157 miles. On December 15, they stopped by Flandreau Indian School, in Flandreau, South Dakota where they had lunch with students and were honored with songs and prayers.
