Trump and Uncle Sam: Who Has Better Combover?

Blustery, improbable Presidential candidate Donald Trump has teamed up with America’s icon, a bald eagle—named Uncle Sam, no less—for a photo op in his (Trump’s) office.

The shoot was conceived by Time photographer Martin Schoeller, who was looking for ways to liven up a portrait session for the magazine’s upcoming cover story, featuring The Donald and headlined, “Deal With It.”

Schoeller felt he needed to get the real estate magnate—or at least his hair—to loosen up a little.

“Every frame was the same,” Schoeller told Time, describing the 28 shots that had come out of a previous shoot. “Mr. Trump knows exactly how he looks, and he strikes one pose and doesn’t move.”

Deciding to mix it up a bit, Schoeller came up with the idea of posing the mogul with the raptor. Enter Uncle Sam, a 27-year-old bald eagle that has been on the jet-setting circuit since being hit by a car in the 1994 and rendered permanently disabled (termed “unreleasable,” in wildlife lingo). The bird has appeared in movies, commercials and on television, according to his owner, master falconer and wildlife rehabilitator Jonathan Wood.

Trump was leading the Republican polls when the magazine issue came out with him on the cover as the frontrunner for the 2016 Presidential election.

Among other positions, Trump is advocating for the deportation of undocumented immigrants, though he doesn’t say how many centuries back that would go. No word to date on any positions regarding American Indian issues, either.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Trump to do anything for Natives. He's already made it clear that he thinks there are too many "dark-skinned people" in this country already.
