Mile-Long Noses: So Many Lies, So Little Time

Carly McIntosh

The amount of lies told in this world makes you wonder if anything can be true anymore. If we all had the curse the fictional character Pinocchio had, imagine for a moment how long our noses would be.

For many years marijuana was against the law to take, while being told to believe it was horrible for your health. Yet now it is helping people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and many disorders involving the brain. Many people that have been taking Marijuana have had a better result now than when being placed on prescribed medications. Marijuana is a natural substance, it was placed on this Earth to help us, not to be taken away from us by governmental misinformation. Marijuana is helping a lot of people with their health issues, yet it could have been helping others many years ago.

In the early 1950s there was a prescribed medication called Thalidomide, and it was a medication that was given to woman who were pregnant. Thalidomide was made to be given to women with morning sickness. For some time women were giving birth to deformed babies, the newborns were being born without legs or arms. It took the doctors close to three years to figure out that the prescribed medication Thalidomide, was the cause of phocomelia (malformation of the limbs). We were told to believe Thalidomide was safe on our health, when it turned out to hurt 5,000 to 7,000 of our newborns.

Another belief people were told was to place asbestos fibres in-between their walls, it was a fiber to keep the heat from escaping their home. With Asbestos fibres placed in-between the walls, the toxins from the fibre spread in the air and made it hard for people to breath. asbestos fibres were causing people to develop asbestosis, a lung disease. People were developing lung cancer left and right. Being made to believe an innocent fibre would make your house warmer, instead it turned out to be a toxin slowly infecting your lungs to develop cancer.

Information released on Indian Residential Schooling, how First Nation children were not allowed to believe in their own culture. The children were taken away from their families, and were forced to believe in Christianity. The year of 1870 is when Indian Residential Schooling had started. Close to 150,000 First Nation children were placed in Residential Schools across Canada. Many of the children in the schools were abused, while never being able to see their mother or father. The last Indian Residential School to close was in the year of 1996. Everyone was told to believe these schools were harmless, yet they were just like prison but worse.

There are plenty more lies people were told and are made to believe. People have to start thinking for themselves and not believe everything they are told. With the amount of lies that spread everyday it is the largest virus in the world. If it does not feel true, it is not true. Listen to your inner self.

Don't believe everything they tell you to believe. Find the truth for yourself.
