Washburn to Leave Interior in January


And that’s a wrap.

After more than three years of leadership, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell announced today that Assistant Secretary – Indian Affairs Kevin K. Washburn will conclude his service to the department in January.

Washburn will be returning to the faculty of the University of New Mexico School of Law. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Lawrence “Larry” Roberts will lead Indian Affairs for the remainder of the Obama Administration.

Washburn is the longest serving Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs since Ada Deer.
