Video: NPS Comment Period for Oak Flat Historic Designation Ends on March 4

Editor’s note: The National Park Service (NPS) expects to have a decision by the end of the day on Friday March 4 on whether to turn down an application to place Oak Flat, the campground and ceremonial site sacred to the Apache, on the National Register of Historic Places.

The NPS has extended the comment period, which gives those opposed a few more days to make their case. While Resolution Copper says it can protect the site by virtue of the National Environmental Protection Act (NIPA), opponents say it’s not enough. Cronkite News reports, below.
