In the last minute of Wisconsin’s game against No. 2 seeded Xavier, Bronson Koenig hit two bombs – including a 3-pointer at the final buzzer – that secured a win for the Badgers, and sent them to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

The clutch three by Koenig (Ho-Chunk) was the capping off of a slow crawl to a comeback victory, since Xavier held a 58-49 lead with 6:19 minutes left in the game.

“This was a team win, obviously. Bronson hit two big shots there at the end … he’s a big-time player, he’s hit a lot of shots for us over his career and hopefully he’s got a lot more in him,” said Wisconsin Coach Greg Gard at the postgame press conference.

“I knew it was going in before it even left my hand, because that is a shot I practice quite a bit,” Koenig said after the game. “I just let it fly and knew it was going in. I can’t really explain the feeling after I hit it. I think it was my real first game-winner like that. It was a lot of excitement," he said.  Koenig also tweeted, "That was for all my Natives out there, & my team, & of course the true fans out there!! Thank you."

Koenig’s shot sent the Wisconsin Badgers to Philadelphia, where they will be taking on Notre Dame in the Sweet 16 on Friday night.
