Tribes, Grijalva Urge Obama to Protect 1.7 Million Acres at Grand Canyon [Video]

Editor's Note: The request of U.S. Representative Raul Grijalva, D-Tucson for President Barack Obama to designate 1.7 million acres around the Grand Canyon perimeter as a National Monument and thus save it from mining is still pending. Cronkite News reported at the end of April that he was joined by tribal representatives who want to preserve this natural wonder and their way of life. A bill that would have kept the canyon off limits died in the House last year.
