A Live Study On Medical Marijuana

Carly McIntosh

In Canada, medical marijuana is to be fully legalised in 2017. Marijuana was given to us by Mother Earth for a reason, yet for many years we let it slip through our fingers. Many decades later we finally have a hold on the substance and in just one step we could have the answer.

Many years I have been placed on man-made prescription drugs, due to having Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. My body has never agreed with man-made prescription drugs, it never once stopped the epileptic seizures and instead I just got horrible side effects.

It has been said that marijuana has been known to help people with epilepsy, and that is when it caught my eye. I did my research for finding a doctor in Canada that would write me a prescription for medical marijuana, and that is when it began. I was one of many to be given a prescription on medical marijuana and to see if it would help take control of my epileptic seizures in any way. Other epileptics in town are relying on me to hear of the outcomes on the response to the medical marijuana. To keep everyone up to date on any changes due to my Epilepsy I send e-mails of any small or extreme changes to my clinic.

When I got my first order of prescribed Medical Marijuana I did not notice any changes in my epilepsy, but I was having an effect of tiredness. The marijuana I was prescribed had a high amount of CBD, meaning Cannabidiol.

After I told my doctor that the CBD was making me tired we decreased the CBD and increased the mixture of THC, THC meaning Tetrahydrocannbinol.

When I was prescribed medical marijuana with higher amounts of THC, that is when I started noticing changes with my epileptic seizures. As I vaporized my medical marijuana there started to be a decrease in numbers for complex seizures. The greater amount of THC in my medical marijuana is helping stop the full power of my complex seizure. With taking medical marijuana it stops my complex seizure from having its full strength, the medical marijuana is a wall that my complex seizure cannot pass.

With complex seizures not being able to succeed one problem is that my aura seizures are changing and have become stronger. The length of time for a aura seizure has increased, and the increase in strength has made me feel as if I am closer to passing out. With my complex seizure becoming weak, my body is telling my aura seizures to keep fighting.

Medical marijuana is just like dealing with man-made medication, you have to find just the right amount for your own body. I believe the THC in medical marijuana is helping me deal more with my epilepsy, then anything else I have ever tried. My doctor and I believe increasing the THC in the medical marijuana will help in taking control of my aura seizures in time.

Having to deal with epileptic aeizures every day, one effect I do enjoy getting from the medical marijuana is the giggles. You begin to feel that Mother Earth has your back, and that you are not alone is this world. From a plant given to us by Mother Earth, it is the gift of happiness.

Not only is medical marijuana known to help people with Epilepsy it is known to help with anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, chronic pain, cancer, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and others.

Don't give up on your health without trying everything you possibly can.
