Idle No More Announces Washington ‎Paddle to Standing Rock 2016

Idle No More Washington State

Paddle to Standing Rock 2016
Cannon Ball, North Dakota
September 7, 8, 9, 2016

There has been a call-out and invitation for Canoe Families to join a spiritual journey down the Missouri River on September 7, 8, 9, 2016 to pull in support of our Standing Rock Sioux relatives to protect their sacred lands and waters against the proposed Dakota Access Pipeline. This is a peaceful, family-friendly event, bring your canoes, signs, drums, rattles, regalia, smudge, and prayers.

There will be short pulls on each day–7th, 8th, and 9th. More information will be provided as it comes available.

Please let us know if your canoe family is able to make it, what date/time you’ll be leaving, who is your contact person, and text me your cell number so we can all be in contact. Maybe we can caravan over together.

Canoe Families from Nisqually, Puyallup, Muckleshoot Tribes of Washington, Warm Springs and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Alaska, are joining the Standing Rock Sioux and thousands of other paddlers on the Missouri.

Please be sure to bring walkie talkies and/or CB radios as cell and wifi reception is not very good out there. Let Jeff Smith know if your canoe family will need some before Friday (206) 632-0500.

Breakfast, lunch and dinners are provided while there. Please bring everything we need for a canoe journey, water, food, and any donations for the Standing Rock Sioux. The weather in the day is upper 60s–mid 70s at night 49–52 degrees and thundershowers on Monday Sept. 5th.

Be advised that Hwy 1806 and Hwy 6 are closed. I will post driving directions and any updates on this event page. It’s highly recommended to NOT go to Bismarck, North Dakota because of blocked roads.

For more information, please contact Sweetwater Nannauck (206) 245-5621, Facebook message, or email [email protected] before Monday, after that we may all be technologically challenged.
