American Indian poet, actor, spoken word artist, and political activist John Trudell walked on December 8, 2015 at his home, surrounded by friends and family. He was 69.
Born on February 15, 1946, he dedicated his life to indigenous human rights, land and language issues. He helped spark a spoken word movement that is a continuation of Native American oral traditions.
He was there during the Trail of Broken Treaties and at the Occupation of Alcatraz Island. He was a hero and friend to many. He will be missed.
