Photo: Vintage Images Given New Life

This week’s featured image comes from John Gulizia of John Gulizia Foto FX, who specializes in portraits, image restoration, and colorization. It’s that last skill that he’s applied to dozens of familiar pictures of American Indians. The original images were taken by some of the era’s most talented photographers—Edward S. Curtis, D.F. Barry, Gertrude Kasebier—and though they are familiar, the transformation into color gives them new life.

The image was featured in this week’s Indian Country Today Media Network newsletter.
