Photos From Gathering of Nations: Miss Indian World Jessa Rae Growing Thunder
The Gathering may be over, but the event lives on as the photos flow in from Albuquerque. In this set, our intrepid photographer Cliff Matias took these shots of the Miss Indian World Pageant where Jessa Rae Growing Thunder, Assiniboine/Sioux was awarded the crown.
These photos from the pageant showcase just how incredible these young women are. Jessa Rae Growing Thunder wasn't the only impressive contestant—Miss Indian World requires that each participant must be knowledgeable about their respective tribe and the traditions she is representing, as well as display their talents in a variety of categories, all under the intense pressure that are a part of this five-day competition.
We congratulate Jessa Rae Growing Thunder, first runner up Joanne Morales-Gonzales, Taino, and second runner up Nikki Santos, Coeur D'Alene/Taino, and all the young women who competed.
