This month’s full moon was supposedly the smallest of the year, but you wouldn’t know it from looking at these breathtaking photos. Taken by Jacob Frank in Yellowstone National Park a good two nights before the moon went full, the photos show that looks can be deceiving.

They were shared by the U.S. Department of the Interior on its Tumblr page, America’s Great Outdoors. This is the same outfit that brought us a frost-dusted American buffalo a couple of years ago.

It's views like this that make us glad to be alive.

I watched this moon rise over the Organ Mountains here in southern NM. I was in the desert and it was a spectacular sight! It seemed almost like daytime.
