Bronson Koenig’s 18 Points Helps Badgers Win Big Ten, Team Gets No. 1 Seed

Bronson Koenig, Ho-Chunk Nation, scored 18 points to help Wisconsin rally past Michigan State in an overtime thriller Sunday for the Big Ten Championship. The Badgers won 80-69.

The Badgers (31-3) faced an 11-point deficit with just seven minutes left in regulation, but they rushed past the Spartans, scoring 34-12 over the last minutes of the game.

"Even I'm speechless and that's hard to do," coach Bo Ryan told The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Sunday. "It was the fight in this group, and to do what they did when it seemed like Michigan State couldn't do anything wrong. I just hope we have something left in us come NCAA Tournament time."

"He told us that if it's in our hands, we need to take care of business," Koenig told The Journal, referring to Ryan. "We were down 11 and they thought they had it in the bag, but I kept reminding my teammates that we were never going to give up. I'm just at a loss for words."

Koenig and Nigel Hayes, who scored 25 points, nailed three-pointers in the first few minutes of overtime to give the Badgers the edge. It was two costly turnovers that kept the Spartans behind as well as missed shots.
