Ho-Chunk Nation Raises Minimum Wage to $10

Black River Falls, WI – The Ho-Chunk Nation asserted their sovereign authority to establish a base minimum wage of $10 an hour for their workforce.

The minimum wage increase has been a long debated issue in the state and federal landscape, but the Ho-Chunk Nation wants to uphold their commitment to frontline and entry-level workers, who they believe deserve the boost. “The cost is high, but the return is much greater,” says Ho-Chunk Nation President Jon Greendeer. “We can wait until the perpetual debate is resolved, or we can just take action ourselves. We chose to make our move, and I feel it’s the right one.”

The $10 minimum wage goes into effect July 2015.
