Furthering its commitment to giving back to Indian country, AMERIND Risk will host its 12th Annual "Protecting Tribal Families Golf Fundraiser" on April 28.

The tournament will benefit families without homeowners insurance, as well as the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) and the Notah Begay III Foundation (NB3F). Since its inception, the annual event has raised more than $100,000 for tribal families.

The tournament will take place at Santa Ana Golf Club, the 27-hole championship links-style golf course highly-ranked by Golf Week and Golf Digest, framed by resplendent views of the Sandia Mountains in New Mexico. Last year's tournament was hosted at sister course Twin Warriors Golf Club, an 18-hole championship course of high desert in and around 20 ancient cultural sites of previous habitation and activity. Both Santa Ana and Twin Warriors golf clubs are owned by the Pueblo of Santa Ana.

AMERIND created the Protecting Tribal Families Fund, to help uninsured tribal homeowners after a fire, flood or other catastrophic event.

“Although we encourage all homeowners on tribal land to purchase homeowners insurance for any type of dwelling—a modern home, a trailer, a traditional home—we know that some may not be able to obtain insurance for various reasons,” said Nancy Harjo Serna, AMERIND Director of Marketing. “AMERIND created this fund to ensure that families can get back on their feet.”

The mission of the NB3 Foundation is to reverse the deadly trends of childhood obesity and type-2 diabetes among Native youth. NICWA is dedicated to the well-being of American Indian and Alaska Native children and families, focusing specifically on the tribal capacity to prevent child abuse and neglect.

The event at the Santa Ana Golf Club will include a 4-person scramble, contests, lunch and an awards reception following the tournament at Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M.  Prizes include a chance to win $10,000 for a hole-in-one and an opportunity to participate in a putting contest to win $2,500.

“We invite businesses, organizations and individuals to participate.  Your participation helps three organizations that are committed and rooted deeply within Indian Country.  We look forward to seeing everyone for a great day of golf!” said AMERIND CEO, Derek Valdo. “Thank you for your tax-deductible support of the Protecting Tribal Families Fund, NICWA and the NB3.”

Sponsorships are available. In-kind gifts, gift cards, hotel or golf packages are welcome. Net proceeds raised from the tournament will directly benefit families and youth in Indian Country.

Included with online registration is a 1-year subscription to Golf Digest, a $10 value. To register, go to 12th Annual Protecting Tribal Families Golf Fundraiser.
